Vibratory
Finishing
Parts and abrasive media are vibrated together in a bowl or trough. Relative motion between media and parts progressively removes burrs, rounds edges and improves surface finish.
How Vibratory
Finishing Works
Parts and abrasive media (ceramic, plastic or steel chips) are loaded into a vibratory bowl. Controlled vibration creates a rolling, scrubbing action.
Loading
Parts and media are loaded into the vibratory bowl or trough at a controlled ratio.
Vibratory action
The bowl vibrates at 20–60 Hz. Parts and media roll against each other — abrasive contact removes burrs and rounds edges progressively.
Separation & drying
A screen separates parts from media. Parts are rinsed and dried — ready for further processing.
Where Vibratory Finishing
Is Used
Vibratory finishing is the standard batch deburring process for high-volume production of small to medium parts.
Turned & milled parts
Small-to-medium machined parts with external burrs on accessible edges — deburred and surface-improved in large batches.
Stampings & pressings
Sheet metal parts with shear burrs are deburred and edge-rounded for safe handling and assembly.
Castings pre-treatment
Foundry castings are deburred and descaled before painting or plating.
Fasteners & hardware
Bolts, nuts and fittings are deburred and surface-finished in bulk quantities.
Why Vibratory Finishing
- Very low cost per part — high-volume batches
- No operator involvement during processing
- Consistent, repeatable results
- Simultaneous deburring and surface improvement
- Large batch capacity — hundreds to thousands of parts
- Wide choice of media for different results
- Easy to integrate into production workflow
- Suitable for most metals and some plastics
